Perang Besar Di Perang Besar Malam Tadi
Come on, this is politics! In politics everyone uses everyone. It is just one massive orgy where everyone screws everyone. That’s what orgies are all about, are they not? And that is the fun of having an orgy. You just screw away, or get screwed, and then go home and have a good sleep. Sigh…what fun.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Yes, there was a perang besar or big fight at Perang Besar last night. For those who may not know, Perang Besar is the original name for what is now called Putrajaya. Perang Besar was established in 1921 by British veterans of WWI, called ‘The Great War’. Hence the name ‘Perang Besar’.
Anyway, 100 years after its establishment, Perang Besar a.k.a. Putrajaya saw another perang besar, and this time for the post of the Prime Minister of Malaysia between PM7 Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PM-in-waiting Anwar Ibrahim.
And the winner was, which goes without saying, the Grand Old Man of Malaysian Politics.
It is extremely difficult to be humble when you are a genius but we did say Mahathir is not going to be ousted in May 2020, as many say, but will stay in office until he is ready to go, and on his terms.
A toast to Mahathir PM7-PM8
Does that mean Anwar has a longer wait than expected? Hey, who said anything about Anwar? Mahathir will not go in May this year but will stay for as long as he wants to stay, but when he does eventually decide to go that does not mean it is going to be Anwar who takes over.
We have said this before and will say it again. If Anwar wants to become PM8 then he has to take the throne by force. If he wants to sit and wait and expects the post to be served to him on a sliver platter, then he will be waiting forever, just like Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah a.k.a. Ku Li.
Yes, Ku Li is a prince from the Kelantan Royal Household. So he thought, as an anak raja, all he needs to do is wait to be served. No need to rush to the buffet table to grab what you want. Well, he was wrong, and now he regrets it like hell.
On 15th January 1976, Tun Hussein Onn took over as Malaysia’s third Prime Minister or PM3 and he wanted to appoint Tun Ghazali Shafie as his number two. The only problem was that Ghazali was not one of the three vice presidents of Umno. Ku Li, Tun Ghafar Baba and Mahathir were: in that order of priority based on votes.
The day Ku Li ‘gave way’ to Mahathir in January 1976, he became the PM-in-waiting for life
So the three Umno VPs confronted Hussein and told him he must choose his new deputy from amongst the three. By convention, Ku Li should be the new Deputy Prime Minister but he forgo his turn and told Hussein to give it to Mahathir instead, the third man on the list. (Ghafar, the second man on the list, had only a standard six education, so he would not have been a suitable Deputy Prime Minister).
It was agreed that once Mahathir takes over as Prime Minister from Hussein he would appoint Ku Li as his number two.
That was the biggest mistake Ku Li made; in January 1976. When Mahathir took over as Prime Minister in 1981, he screwed Ku Li and backed Tun Musa Hitam instead. Of course, Mahathir said he would leave it to the party to decide, but if he was asked to choose his number two he would choose Musa.
Pandai tak? Saya serah kepada parti tapi saya nak Musa.
Mahathir used Musa to oust Ku Li and then ousted Musa and replaced him with Ghafar in classic screw you style
And, since 1981, Ku Li has been the Prime Minister-in-waiting, with Anwar as the second longest Prime Minister-in-waiting since 1982. Then we have Musa, the mantan Prime Minister-in-waiting who did not have to wait too long to become mantan.
Yes, Mahathir chews and spits out Prime Ministers-in-waiting more often than I change my underwear (the truth is I wear American ups and downs, for those who know what that means).
Anyway, back to the perang besar in Perang Besar last night.
Remember the PAS vote of confidence that was supposed to be tabled in Parliament on 9th March 2020? Then there were the 38 or so Statutory Declarations that Mahathir got the Barisan Nasional MPs to sign. The he got a number of DAP, PKR and Amanah MPs to do the same, to add to his PPBM MPs.
Now can you see that Abdul Hadi Awang is no kampong politician after all?
In short, Mahathir got the numbers before last night’s meeting, more than the required 112 MPs. Insiders tell me he had 138 MPs in his hand if you include those from Sabah and Sarawak. Anyway, whatever it may be, he had more than 112 and hence was the king of the mountain.
Then he told Pakatan Harapan if they kick him out he will pull PPBM out of Pakatan Harapan, and together with his ‘mandate’ given by the others, he will form a new coalition to replace Pakatan Harapan. And Pakatan Harapan knew he had the numbers to do this.
Did Mahathir use PAS, Umno, PKR and those from DAP, Amanah, Sabah and Sarawak who supported him merely to blackmail Pakatan Harapan into agreeing to allow him to stay on as Prime Minister beyond May 2020?
Malaysian politics is like a Roman orgy
Come on, this is politics! In politics everyone uses everyone. It is just one massive orgy where everyone screws everyone. That’s what orgies are all about, are they not? And that is the fun of having an orgy. You just screw away, or get screwed, and then go home and have a good sleep. Sigh…what fun.
And, in Malaysia, politics is one great orgy. And, last night, Mahathir was the main screwer. He screwed everyone left, right and center and then sent them all home to lick their wounds.
So that’s it. End of story. No more succession story. No more May 2020. No more Otai Reformis. No more Reformasi 2.0. No more Anwar for PM8.
Pakatan Harapan is now a sendirian berhad. It is now owned by Mahathir and friends. And if you don’t like it you can go jump in Tasek Perang Besar, that manmade lake in Putrajaya.
Well done, Muafakat Nasional!
Okay, back to the political orgy story. So Mahathir screwed everyone? Everyone? Everyone including Umno and PAS? Ah, not quite that way.
Umno and PAS just gave Mahathir the ‘tools’ to screw everyone. Then they stood aside to watch the fun. And today Umno and PAS met up to celebrate their victory over Pakatan Harapan. And they took the photograph above so that they can remember the hari ini dalam sejarah when Umno and PAS helped Mahathir screw Pakatan Harapan as balasan for what they did in May 2018.
In English that is called payback time, or karma if you wish. JR Ewing would call it “what goes around comes around.” I call it “I just love political orgies Malaysian style.” Hidup Mahathir, and may he stay on the Perang Besar throne until GE15.
