Pbm New Members Did Not Defect From Bersatu
Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) has revealed that the membership applications of former Pakatan Harapan representatives in the party were not processed when they had previously applied to join Bersatu.
Perak PBM secretary Sharifah Hazlina Syed Musa Jamalullail said that among the Perak state representatives who joined PBM, only Buntong assemblyperson A Sivasubramaniam (above, right) had successfully applied for Bersatu membership - with his application received early last year.
“However, Sivasubramaniam’s membership was transferred to another division (without his knowledge) instead of being placed in the Ipoh Barat Parliament division where he now serves as the Buntong assemblyperson,” Sharifah said in a statement today.
According to the Perak Penggerak Komuniti Negara (PKN) secretary, Tronoh assemblyperson Paul Yong’s membership application was also sent alongside Sivasubramaniam’s application to Bersatu but was not processed by the party. Yong eventually decided to join PBM instead.
Additionally, she clarified that Malim Nawar assemblyperson Leong Cheok Keng was an independent MP before joining Perak PBM - with allegations he had joined the Perak MCA being untrue.
Malim Nawar assemblyperson Leong Cheok KengSharifah’s statement came after reports that several Bersatu leaders, including two assemblypersons, had defected to PBM.
In response to the news, Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan said that the party was not put at risk by a number of its members defecting to PBM with some even appointed as top leaders within the latter party.
Yong and Sivasubramaniam were both DAP members before they quit to become independents and later allegedly joined Bersatu in March last year.
