Pay Up Harakah Ex Printer Tells Pas As Founder Lands In Icu

PAS has been urged to pay up its outstanding debts with the party mouthpiece Harakah's former printers in line with a recent court verdict on the matter.
NAJ Press Resources (M) Sdn Bhd manager Hussin Jan said that the company's founder Azlan Jan is in critical condition in a hospital, and as such, the funds would come in handy.
Azlan founded Angkatan Edaran Enterprise Sdn Bhd, which later went bankrupt before NAJ Press Resources was established to continue printing Harakah.
According to Hussin, his lawyer sent a summary judgment of the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court's decision on Dec 5, for the Islamist party to pay RM656,233.69 in debt.
The notice, among other things, demands the defendants explain and pay the amount of the judgment including the cost of solicitor's interest on behalf of the plaintiff.
"They (defendants) have to settle the amount within seven days from the date of the notice on Dec 13.
"At a time when the founder of the two companies (Azlan) is in a critical condition, we hope that PAS will have faith and kindness to pay up Harakah's debts," Hussin told Malaysiakini today.
Azlan is being warded in the Intensive Care Unit of the KPJ Hospital in Shah Alam, due to kidney and heart-related complications. He has been unconscious since being admitted last Sunday.
However, Hussin said that Azlan's condition has stabilised due to close monitoring by the medical team after he snapped out of a coma.
On Dec 5, the court allowed NAJ Press Resources' application for summary judgment (court decision without a full trial) against PAS and two other defendants.
The other two defendants are PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan and the party mouthpiece’s publisher Galeri Media Serbanika Sdn Bhd.
Malaysiakini has reached out to PAS to comment on the matter.
Meanwhile, Hussin hoped that PAS would settle the "real amount of debt" owed to them, instead of the amount set by the court.
This, he said, is because PAS, as an Islamic party, should uphold laws related to debts, as stipulated in the religion.
"The PAS leadership should realise that in Islam, one must settle debt even if it is not demanded."
It was previously reported that Harakah’s debt with Angkatan Edaran has reached millions of ringgit compared to its debt with NAJ Resources at just over RM600,000. - Mkini
