Pas Prioritises Forgiveness Over Political Vengeance Hadi
PAS has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the Islamic principles of justice and prioritising forgiveness over politics of vengeance and deceit.
Its president, Abdul Hadi Awang, said that this principle is rooted in the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, which emphasised forgiveness and justice.
Commenting on the recent issue involving the royal addendum in former premier Najib Abdul Razak’s case, Hadi said PAS does not find the decree unusual.
“Those who reject it are either ignorant of religion, non-Muslims, or driven by vengeance and impatience when in power,” he said in a statement today.
On Jan 6, the Court of Appeal allowed Najib’s appeal to initiate a judicial review to compel the home minister and the government to enforce the addendum by the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong granting him house arrest.
Ex-PM Najib Abdul RazakExpounding further, Hadi referred to the historical event of the conquest of Mecca, during which Prophet Muhammad demonstrated complete forgiveness towards those who had previously opposed Islam.
He also quoted verses from the Quran, including Surah al-Ma’idah and Surah al-Baqarah, which call on Muslims to act justly, even towards their enemies, and prioritise forgiveness as a sign of piety.
“The principle of justice for all and prioritising forgiveness made Islam successful in overcoming colonial powers that were far stronger and wealthier.
“Many Western intellectuals and political figures have stated that Islamic slogans are more threatening than communism, which is considered the most brutal, or liberal colonialists, who are the most deceptive and violent.
“This has led to the spread of Islamophobia and the fear of the ‘Green Wave’ allegedly sponsored by DAP,” he added. - Mkini
