Sanusi Denies Pas Exploiting Najib Case For Political Gain

Sanusi Nor, election director of PAS and Peritakan Nasional, said he wanted to find out whether the much talked about addendum order actually existed.
PETALING JAYA: PAS election director Sanusi Nor has denied that the party is exploiting the Najib Razak case by holding a rally in solidarity with the imprisoned former prime minister in Putrajaya tomorrow.
Sanusi, who said he would be attending the rally, said politics required seizing opportunities when they arose. “If a fish passes by and we don’t catch it, it’s our loss. We just need to use the right tool. Don’t bomb the fish … catch it properly,” he said, according to Berita Harian.
Sanusi said he wanted to find out for himself whether the much talked about purported addendum actually existed. “In this open world, there is nothing that can be hidden. People want to see who is telling the truth and who is not,” he said.
Leaders of PAS have urged party members to attend the rally, while Bersatu, its Perikatan Nasional partner, said there was no objection to its members attending the gathering.
Police have urged the public not to attend, declaring the rally illegal as no permit for a public assembly had been issued.
Umno and its partners in Barisan Nasional have called off participation, in deference to an Istana Negara statement on following established procedures on pardons, and in light of the police warning.
However, Sanusi said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had not issued a statement prohibiting the rally from being held, while other opposition politicians have defended the right of the people to assemble.
The Court of Appeal will hold a hearing tomorrow on Najib’s application for a judicial review of his move to serve the remainder of his jail term under house arrest. Najib contends that the order for house arrest is contained in a purported addendum to the Feb 2 pardons board’s decision which commuted his 12-year jail sentence to six years. - FMT
