Pas Denies Wanting Mp Allocations To Pay Tiktok Influencers
Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden said that the PAS youth wing will be appointing young women into its leadership as there is nothing in the party’s constitution that prevents it from doing so.SHAH ALAM: PAS has denied allegations that the party was asking the government for funds that will eventually be used to pay TikTok influencers who work for the party.
PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden said the influencers appointed by the party work on a voluntary basis.
“They (the TikTok influencers) fight (for our cause) without pay from the party, but a minister mocks them by saying that when PAS asks for allocations for MPs, it is to pay these influencers.
“We would like to state today that our influencers work without being paid and that has helped us achieve our victory today,” he said during his closing speech on the final day of the 69th annual PAS muktamar here.
Last week, economy minister Rafizi Ramli said allocations will be given directly to the people via new projects and aid, to avoid certain MPs using the funds to pay TikTok influencers.
“The government does not want the allocations given to not reach the people, and be ultimately used by a group of MPs and their people to pay TikTokers for political purposes,” he said on his X (formerly known as Twitter) social media account.
Separately, Afnan said that the party’s youth wing will appoint young women into its leadership to show appreciation for the support given by the group in the previous elections.
“We are ready to appoint a number of young women into the youth wing’s committee because PAS’s constitution does not specify that the leadership must be exclusively male,” he said. - FMT
