Pas Calls For Immediate Action On Opposition Allocation Proposals

The MADANI Government is advised to immediately establish a special committee to discuss proposals, including issues related to allocations from the opposition, without waiting for a draft to be submitted by the opposition.
This was conveyed by PAS Deputy President, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, commenting on the statement by Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Yesterday, Fadillah urged opposition MPs to submit their proposals first in order to allow the allocation distribution committee to be established.
“The government does not need to wait for the opposition to propose suggestions (submit a letter and state what is required first), as these can be presented within the committee (that is formed),” he said.
“If the proposal is presented within that committee, it will facilitate consensus. We hope this committee can be finalised during this Ramadan month,” he added.
Yesterday, Fadillah was reported as saying that he needed a commitment from the opposition regarding the proposal letter to be reviewed before establishing a committee at both the government and opposition levels.
This follows the opposition’s decision to make media statements without submitting the proposed letter as requested.
Fadillah had previously stated that the establishment of the special committee was crucial to resolve issues related to the distribution of allocations for opposition MPs in a more consensual and comprehensive manner.
PN had previously announced its rejection of the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) from the government regarding the allocation issue for opposition MPs, claiming it conflicted with the Constitution.
The opposition claimed that the MoU proposal was also contrary to cultural, moral, and religious values, could be misinterpreted and abused, and would limit freedoms.
Meanwhile, Muar MP, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, confirmed he had already submitted the proposal requested to the government since last October.
Without disclosing the details of the proposal, Syed Saddiq said he had no issues following the motions set by the government previously.
“This includes declaring assets and focusing on the checks and balances process as a responsible opposition. I also have no issue signing the MoU,” he said. — Focus Malaysia
