Give Fahmi The Boot For Failing Pas Member Urges Pm
A PAS member has urged the prime minister to remove Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil from office for the latter’s alleged failures in delivering the government’s message to the masses.
This comes after the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced earlier that it would introduce a live broadcast of its daily briefing starting on Monday to ensure the public receives accurate and reliable information directly from the official source.
“When I heard this news, it felt weird. Isn’t this Fahmi’s job in his capacity as the government’s spokesperson?
“The PMO is already handling too many things. It handles the Finance Ministry, legal affairs, Islamic affairs and even the rice supply issue, and now, it’s going to handle communications too.
“So, what is Fahmi doing? If he is such a failure, just sack him,” said Nurul Islam Mohammed Yusoff in a Facebook post today.
Earlier today, the prime minister’s senior press secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, said the PMO will clarify current issues, key policies and the latest developments to keep the public informed through the daily briefings.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil“In this post-normal era, where information spreads rapidly, obtaining accurate and verified facts is essential. Acknowledging this, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has agreed to introduce the daily PMO briefing, which will be broadcast live,” Bernama reported him as saying.
The daily briefing will be streamed on Anwar’s and the PMO’s Facebook pages at 11am and 5pm, depending on the updates delivered by Nashrul on behalf of the prime minister.
KPI system
Unimpressed, Nurul Islam (above) said Fahmi is the person tasked to answer questions on behalf of the government.
He also pointed out that in addition to his ministry’s staff members, the Lembah Pantai MP also has the Community Communications Department (J-Kom) parked under his ministry – receiving an allocation of RM13.58 million annually with 155 employees.
“And with all resources at his disposal, don’t tell me the PMO still has to do his job?” he asked.
Nurul Islam then urged Anwar to impose a key performance index (KPI) system on his ministers and political appointees to ensure they perform.
“In a private company, every employee will have their own KPIs, and if they don’t perform for three consecutive years, they can get sacked.
“But here, we have a minister failing for years despite being paid by taxpayers, and yet, the prime minister is still keeping him around,” he added.
