(KPDN pic)KUALA LUMPUR: The parliamentary select committee on domestic trade, entrepreneurship, cost of living and agriculture recommends that Putrajaya allocate more funds for the Rahmah sale programme in 2024, among others.
In a statement, the committee said its recommendations follow a meeting yesterday and are intended to help ease the burden of the cost of living on people.
“The committee also welcomes the Menu Rahmah Incentive Card initiative for Menu Rahmah traders to buy raw materials at a cheaper price. We believe this will encourage more traders to get involved in Menu Rahmah.
“The committee also recommends that the domestic trade and cost of living ministry get more local traders to be involved in the Rahmah sale programme,” it said.
During its meeting yesterday, the committee was briefed on the Payung Rahmah programme by the domestic trade and cost of living ministry, with deputy minister Fuziah Salleh in attendance.
Also present were the committee’s chairman Cha Kee Chin (PH-Rasah) and its members Edwin Banta (GPS-Selangau), Jeffrey Kitingan (GRS-Keningau), Manndzri Nasib (BN-Tenggara), Tan Kar Hing (PH-Gopeng), Hassan Karim (PH-Pasir Gudang), Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu) and Muslimin Yahaya (PN-Sungai Besar).
The committee also expressed its appreciation to the late Salahuddin Ayub, who was domestic trade and cost of living minister, for introducing the Payung Rahmah programme and hoped that the initiative would continue in the future.
