Nothing To Explain Pas Tells Gerakan No 2 Over Ceramah Incident

Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said Gerakan president Dominic Lau had denied being ‘chased away’ from a PAS ceramah.KEPALA BATAS: PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has snubbed calls by his Gerakan counterpart for an explanation for barring party president Dominic Lau from attending a ceramah held by PAS recently.
Tuan Ibrahim said there was nothing for PAS to explain as Lau had denied being chased away from the event after turning up uninvited.
He also said that Lau himself admitted that he was there to meet PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
Tuan Ibrahim said Gerakan deputy president Oh Tong Keong should obtain the details of what had transpired directly from Lau.
‘He (Lau) has issued a statement. Therefore, we don’t have to provide an explanation.
“And he (Oh) should listen to his president,” Tuan Ibrahim told FMT after a ceramah here last night..
Yesterday, when demanding an explanation from PAS, Oh accused the party of disrespecting Lau who he pointed out was a Perikatan Nasional deputy chairman and the Penang PN chief.
He said Lau should have been treated as a guest by PAS.
Oh’s comments came in the wake of a video by Malaysiakini showing Lau being prevented by a Penang PAS leader from following the party’s vice-president, Idris Ahmad, on stage.
When some protested, the PAS leader could be heard telling Lau: “Tak boleh (No, you can’t). You go away.”
On Wednesday, Lau denied that he had been asked to leave the ceramah in Sungai Dua.
He said he had gone there to meet Hadi as the PAS president had asked him to meet him at 9pm. However, Hadi only arrived at 10.30pm and Lau had to leave for another meeting. - FMT
