No Zahid Anwar Meeting Held To Discuss New Govt Claims Source

There have been no meetings held between Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim over support for the latter to form a new government, according to sources.
This came amid rumours that a meeting had taken place between the two politicians. 
"There was no meeting, that (claims of meeting Anwar) is all untrue. Just speculation.
"The (Umno) president has held on to the supreme council's decision that there will be no cooperation with DAP, Anwar and (former premier) Dr Mahathir Mohamad," the source told Malaysiakini.
Anwar yesterday confirmed that he has been granted an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah next Tuesday to present details of "strong, convincing" support purportedly given to him to form a new majority in the Dewan Rakyat.
Responding to Anwar's initial announcement last month, Zahid had said "many" MPs from his coalition and party have voiced support for the Port Dickson MP to form a new government.
Zahid also said he was unable to prevent any Umno MPs who wished to support Anwar's bid to form a new government.
Meanwhile, an Umno supreme council member who declined to be named also said no meetings have been held to discuss Anwar's latest statement.
"No meetings were held to discuss Anwar's statement.
"Prior to this, the Umno leaders whose names were linked (to the purported support) have explained themselves, so we should just wait and see this Tuesday," he said.
Last month, online portal The Vibes quoted Umno sources who revealed that there could be up to 15 MPs from the party backing Anwar.
Subsequently, The Malaysian Insight quoted Padang Rengas MP Nazri Abdul Aziz as saying that "at least 10 Umno MPs" were unhappy with Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his Perikatan Nasional administration.
To a purported list of Umno MPs supporting Anwar, various Umno MPs including Machang MP Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub had denied the claim.  - Mkini
