No Special Treatment For Najib Says Khairy
Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Najib Razak would be discharged once specialists were satisfied that he no longer required hospitalisation. (Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin has denied allegations circulating on social media that Najib Razak, who is currently serving time in prison for corruption, is being given special treatment.
“(There is) no special treatment. There was a request by the deputy public prosecutor for proceedings to be adjourned so that Najib can receive the required medical attention,” Khairy was quoted by Malaysiakini as saying.
Following the request, the former prime minister was treated at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) and underwent several tests, Khairy said.
Subsequently, HKL referred Najib to the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital (HRC) for a follow-up treatment that required physiotherapy, he added.

“And part of that is of course to teach him how to do it himself, because he will be discharged once the specialists are satisfied that he no longer requires hospitalisation.”
Khairy’s denial of special treatment being accorded to Najib comes in the wake of a message making the rounds on social media alleging that Najib’s cell in the Kajang prison complex had been renovated.
It also claimed there were plans to have Najib transferred to HRC to allow easier access to VVIP facilities.
Earlier today, the prisons department said Najib was transferred to HRC on Monday for treatment and observation.
Najib was admitted to HKL last week after his blood pressure experienced “fluctuations”.
Last month, the prisons department rubbished rumours that the Pekan MP would receive special treatment in Kajang prison. - FMT
