Najib All Prisoners Should Be Given Best Medical Treatment Says Kit Siang

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang says proper medical treatment is a right that should be extended to all prisoners.PETALING JAYA: DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang says the government should give former prime minister Najib Razak the “best medical treatment” while in prison, a right which should be extended to all prisoners.
In a statement, Lim noted that Najib’s family had pushed the government to provide him with the best medical treatment after he was taken to hospital last week with stomach ulcers.
“I fully agree with Najib’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa, and call on the government to give Najib the best medical treatment while in imprisonment, a right which should be extended to all prisoners in Malaysia,” he said.
Najib has been in prison since Aug 23 when the Federal Court upheld his conviction and sentence in the SRC International case.

He was sentenced to 12 years’ jail and fined RM210 million after being convicted on seven charges of abuse of power, money laundering and criminal breach of trust over SRC International funds amounting to RM42 million.
Najib’s family had pleaded with the government to allow him to be given proper medical treatment after he was admitted to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) on Friday.
His special officer, Mukhlis Maghribi, said Najib underwent a scope procedure on Saturday in which a doctor discovered the ulcers.
Najib requested that he be kept under further observation but his request was denied and he was discharged, Mukhlis said.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah later said a panel of specialists at the hospital had discussed Najib’s case with his family and had jointly agreed to allow him to be discharged.
“He was declared as healthy before he was allowed to be discharged from HKL,” he said.
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob then instructed the health ministry to give Najib the best medical treatment. - FMT
