Najib S Daughter Reminisces On Father S Commitment To Rakyat
Despite what happened to her father recently, Nooryana Najwa, daughter of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, looked spirited as she spoke at the Umno president’s special briefing today.
“I was very moved by the large number of people who gathered here to support my daddy Bossku,” she said at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) today.
“Today is also the first time in 46 years that daddy was unable to attend a party gathering.
“We leave it to God to take care of daddy.”
However, Nooryana teared up when she held up a blue tie, her father’s favourite.
She said after the Federal Court delivered its verdict on Tuesday (Aug 23), Najib had handed the tie to her and asked her to keep it.
“Since I was small, I’d wait for daddy to tie his tie perfectly without having to look in the mirror,” she said.
Recalling her father’s commitment as a political leader to the people, Nooryana said her mother Rosmah Mansor always told her that “the rakyat are like oxygen for daddy”.
“I have asked before, why does daddy not have a normal job like other people’s dads… He answered calmly that if he had a normal job like other people, he would only be able to help a few people.
“But as a politician, daddy can help change the lives of millions of Malaysians.
“That is my daddy, Najib, who has sacrificed everything to the country for 46 years,” she said.
‘Daddy is alone’
Nooryana said the former prime minister should not be spending time in prison.
“But unfortunately, daddy is alone today. Daddy is almost 70 years old.
“We will not stop seeking justice until Bossku returns to our side,” she said.
Thousands of Umno delegates flooded the special briefing by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today, which is widely seen as a solidarity event for Najib.
Also present were Najib’s wife, Rosmah and his lawyers, Muhammad Shafee Abdullah and Zaid Ibrahim.
Najib’s wife Rosmah MansorThe two lawyers also spoke at the briefing today, where they explained details of the case to the delegates and stressed that Najib was not trying to delay court proceedings.
Najib was sent to jail on Tuesday (Aug 23) after the Federal Court upheld the High Court’s conviction of Najib for misappropriating money from SRC International Sdn Bhd amounting to RM42 million.
He is now serving a 12-year prison sentence and has to pay an RM210 million fine. - Mkini
