Nagaenthran S Lawyer Criticises Politicians For Meeting Singapore Minister

The lawyer of Nagaenthran Dharmalingam, a Malaysian who was executed in Singapore last month over drug offence charges, has bashed several Malaysian politicians for receiving a Singapore minister during the latter's recent visit to Kuala Lumpur.
N Surendran said that it was "sickening" to see Malaysian politicians meeting Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan (above, right) only weeks after Nagaenthran was hanged by the republic.
"Just weeks after Singapore murdered Nagaenthran despite global outcry @VivianBala has come with bloody hands to Malaysia.
"It’s sickening to see Malaysian politicians rushing to meet this man who defended Nagaenthran’s hanging! Surely there should be a decent interval?
"The mother’s tears are not dry yet," the lawyer tweeted this morning.
Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan with PKR’s Nurul Izzah AnwarSurendran’s criticism came after Balakrishnan last night uploaded a series of photographs of meetings with Malaysian politicians during his two-day visit to Kuala Lumpur.
Those he met included Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar from PAS, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook, DAP’s Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching, DAP Central Executive Committee member Syahredzan Johan, and PKR’s Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Malaysiakini has reached out to the politicians for comments. So far, only Syahredzan and Samsuri's press secretary have responded with no comment.

The execution came after a last-ditch legal challenge filed a day earlier by his mother failed in the high-profile case that had attracted international calls for clemency.
Nagaenthran DharmalingamThe Malaysian government and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had attempted to save Nagaenthran's life, including by appealing to Singapore's president to grant clemency to the man, who was said to be mentally challenged.
However, the calls were rejected by Singapore last year, when Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Balakrishnan responded saying that Nagaenthran had been accorded full due process in his case. - Mkini
