- NSTP/Aminah YusofBUKIT MERTAJAM: An audio recording of a man, believed to be the husband of the woman and father of the 11-year-old girl found dead at their rented home here last night, has gone viral on social media.
In the 20-second clip sent via WhatsApp, the man can be heard sobbing uncontrollably as he tells a colleague that he would not be coming to work due to the horrifying incident involving his wife and daughter.
"Assalamualaikum Daus, esok abang tak kerja tau, isteri aku dengan anak aku kena bunuh dekat rumah. Aku balik-balik tengok pintu terbuka, aku tengok bini aku melimpah darah, anak pun kena bunuh. (Assalamualaikum Daus, I won't be coming to work tomorrow. My wife and daughter have been murdered at home. When I got back, I saw the door open. My wife was covered in blood, and my daughter was also murdered," the man was heard saying in a trembling, grief-stricken voice.
Netizens were moved by the heartbreaking clip, with many expressing sympathy and offering prayers for the man to remain strong in facing such a tragedy.
Some social media users claimed to recognise the man's wife as a local kuih seller who was known to be kind and hardworking in helping to support her family.
"We only found out about it 10 minutes ago and are still in shock. She was such a good person, always busy selling various types of kuih, festive treats and bread.
"It broke my heart to hear her husband's voice.
"To come home and find his wife and child murdered… may he be given strength to endure this," one user wrote.
Another social media user expressed hope that the culprit would be arrested soon.
It was reported that the woman, 51, and her daughter were found dead, believed to have been murdered, at their rented home in a village here yesterday.
The bodies were discovered by the woman's husband at about 7.30pm.
Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
At press time, police are still gathering further details regarding the suspect and possible motives behind the killing. - NST
