Its vice-president, Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, however, said he could not comment further on the matter.
"I cannot comment further as I have not listened to the viral audio recording myself.
"I have only heard people talking about it. Whether it is true or false, I am not sure.
"Even if we listen to it, we cannot be certain that the voice is genuine. In this era of artificial intelligence (AI), such things cannot be taken at face value. So, we leave it to the police to investigate," he told reporters last night.
It was reported that the case involving the audio recording, believed to belong to a political leader allegedly making defamatory and insulting remarks against the Perlis royal institution, has been taken over by Bukit Aman.
Perlis police chief Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim said the case would be investigated by Bukit Aman's Classified Criminal Investigation Unit.
Yesterday, Shukri said he was prepared to cooperate with the police if required to assist in the investigation into the viral audio clip allegedly resembling his voice.
However, he declined to comment on the circulation of the video containing the said audio. - NST
