Muhyiddin Pn Supreme Council To Discuss Decide Pm Candidate Next Week
PAS MUKTAMAR | Perikatan Nasional top leaders will convene a meeting in the coming week to discuss and decide its prime minister candidate, said chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin.
This followed PAS' push for the Islamist party to lead the coalition, which came in contrast with Bersatu's resolution during its annual general meeting two weeks ago that nominated Muhyiddin.
Speaking to reporters in Kedah this morning, the Bersatu president said he respected PAS' wish but will leave the decision to the PN supreme council.
"It is PAS' right to nominate anyone to be either the PN chairperson or as its prime minister candidate.
"(PAS) delegates have voiced their opinions in their respective muktamar, just as we (Bersatu) did in our recent annual general meeting.
"Just now, I informed 'Tok Guru' (PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang) that we will call for a PN supreme council meeting, where we will discuss this issue and make a decision, maybe in about a week from now," he said during a doorstop interview after attending the opening ceremony for PAS' 71st muktamar in Alor Setar.
Open to discuss
Muhyiddin said PN is always open to negotiation.
"There is no problem to discuss, and if the majority has reached a final decision on who to be (the leader), we will accept," he said.

Muhyiddin also denied rumours that there was a rift between Bersatu and PAS, saying they have been working together just fine.
On the other hand, Hadi told a press conference that PAS wants to focus on winning the election first.
Only after securing victory that PN shall decide who to be the prime minister, he said.
"PAS is ready to lead Malaysia (but) our priority now is to win the election. We need to get the support to win the election.
"The issue of who will lead... it will be decided internally by PN," he said.

PAS president Abdul Hadi AwangBersatu and PAS have been in a tussle over who their coalition would name as its prime minister candidate for the next general election.
This came after the Bersatu assembly nominated Muhyiddin, a decision that appeared to have hit a sore spot with PAS.
Following this, PAS Youth, during its muktamar on Friday, passed a resolution to push the party leadership to take over the helm of PN, saying it is time for PAS to lead the coalition and the country.
Hadi, in his policy speech this morning, also indicated that the party is ready to govern Malaysia.
'PN logo for all'
During a doorstop interview, Muhyiddin also expressed his wish to see all PN component parties use the coalition logo in the 16th general election, including in Kelantan and Terengganu.
However, Muhyiddin said he would leave the matter to be decided by PN’s top leadership.
"It is my wish (to use the PN logo in all states), because we are in a coalition. Like in Kedah and Perlis, we used the PN logo (in GE15), and it turned out okay.

"But PAS wanted to keep using their logo in Kelantan and Terengganu, so we agreed for them to use the PAS logo there.
"Moving forward, it would be good if we all use the same (logo). This is my wish, but it is up to the top leadership; it is up to them to decide."
On Saturday, PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin, during a press conference, had suggested PN candidates contest under the PAS banner at the four states under its control, namely Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis. - Mkini
