Muhyiddin Denies Receiving Uksb Money Under Cancer Treatment At The Time

Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has denied receiving RM1.3 million from Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd (UKSB) while he was serving as the home minister during the Pakatan Harapan government as he was under cancer treatment at the time.
He said the allegations - which were made in court - were false.
"I wish to state that I have never received, directly or indirectly, any money from David Tan - the witness from UKSB - its directors, or shareholders," he said in a statement this evening.
Muhyiddin was responding to testimony from Tan - a former UKSB administrative manager - during the corruption trial of former deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi involving the Foreign Visa System (VLN) today.
In his testimony, Tan had identified Muhyiddin as the ‘TSM’ jotted down in UKSB's ledgers.
He said the RM1.3 million was transferred to Muhyiddin in cash in three transactions on June 4, July 4, and Aug 23, 2018.
Tan added that the VLN project had fallen under Muhyiddin's purview after taking over the Home Ministry from Zahid.

Muhyiddin disputed the allegations, saying that in July 2018, he had undergone surgery for cancer and had gone on leave for several months.
"In fact on one of the dates mentioned by the witness where I reportedly received the cash bribe, I was actually undergoing treatment at a hospital abroad.
"It would be impossible for me to receive any bribes from anyone in that condition. The allegation is unfounded," he added.
Muhyiddin pointed out that while he was on leave recovering from cancer, Dr Mahathir Mohmad was the acting home minister.
The Pagoh MP further said he was never questioned by authorities over the allegations and hoped that this would be clarified by the prosecution in Zahid's case.
Muhyiddin added that he was prepared to be investigated by the MACC on this matter. - Mkini
