Muhyiddin Bersatu Won T Tussle For Rantau Seat
Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said his party would not tussle for the Rantau seat in the upcoming by-election
He said the seat allocation was decided by the Pakatan Harapan component parties before the 14th general election (GE14)
"The Rantau seat is a PKR seat, if I am not mistaken, where the candidate was stopped and not allowed to enter (the nomination hall) in the last general election
"As far as I know, the party which will contest is PKR. Last time it was PKR, but it is up to PKR
"We have a consensus on which seat is whose, like Semenyih is ours, that is settled and Pagoh is mine, there is nothing to fight over," he said in a press conference in Putrajaya last night, as reported by Astro Awani
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim had said on Monday that though the Rantau state seat in Negeri Sembilan traditionally belonged to PKR, it is not a fixed rule and other Harapan parties could be considered for it
On Monday, the Federal Court dismissed the appeals filed against the Election Court's decision to hold a by-election for the Rantau state seat
The appeals were filed by the incumbent and acting Umno president Mohamad Hasan (photo) as well as the Election Commission (EC)
The Negeri Sembilan state seat was declared vacant by the Seremban Election Court in November last year when Justice Azimah Omar found there was no requirement for a candidate to have a pass to enter the nomination centre
In his petition, PKR candidate Dr S Streram claimed that he had been denied entry into the centre on April 28 on the grounds that he did not have an EC pass
The seat was won uncontested by Mohamad in last year's general election. - Mkini
