More Than 90 Covid 19 Cases Detected At Kl Wholesale Market
COVID-19 | There are now more than 90 confirmed positive Covid-19 cases at the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market in Selayang, Kuala Lumpur, Hoi Seong Fish Wholesaler Association president Sing Kian Hock said today.
This comes after over 30 cases were reported at the market among fish wholesalers and workers last week.
"(After the 30 confirmed cases), I discussed with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and decided to stop operations for four days this week, so that everyone could get tested.
"Up until now, there are 93 or 94 confirmed cases," Sing told Malaysiakini.
He added that the fish wholesaler stalls would be closed immediately and would only reopen on Friday morning.
Previously, about 600 workers at the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market had gone for screening, after the initial cases were detected.

It was also reported by Sin Chew Daily that Kuala Lumpur Vegetable Wholesalers Association president Wong Keng Fatt said the authorities had demanded that everyone undergo Covid-19 testing before they can enter the market, starting this Friday.
He reportedly said that the association would facilitate conducting rapid tests on all wholesalers, transporters and patrons who want to enter the market, with the results being available in 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, all food and fruit stalls are open as usual, Wong added.
He said the authorities are waiting for the test results of all the workers from the vegetable and fruit stalls before meeting with traders.
If many positive cases are detected, the vegetable and fruit section will also need to be closed from Thursday to Saturday. - Mkini
