Mog Rm4 Mil Subsidy To Enhance Medical Front Liners Protection With Zeiss Antivirus Lenses
iCare4U campaign provides RM400 subsidy on new-in-market Zeiss AntiVirus lenses and free ZEISS anti-fog kit for 10,000 medical front-liners between 1 July to 31 July 2021
Metro Optical Group (MOG) today announced a RM4,000,000 eye care subsidy for medical front-liners through an iCare4U programme starting today.
The iCare4U programme, organised by MOG will be extended to the first 10,000 medical front-liners. The subsidy will mainly include a RM400 aid for AntiVirus Lenses made by German renowned lensmaker, ZEISS.
To redeem the subsidy, medical front-liners will need to register online at https://www.mog.com.my/icare4u-project-by-mog/ and then walk-in to any of the 95 MOG outlets in West Malaysia within 1 month of registration date and present their medical identity card for final verification.
On the launch of iCare4u, MOG’s Chairman Dato’ Frankie Ng said, “the medical front-liners have been working tirelessly, protecting us from an invisible enemy for the past fifteen months. We would like to take this opportunity to show our appreciation to them in ways we know best -- by first protecting their eyes.
Datin Bernice Low (CEO of MOG together with Dato' Frankie NG, Chairman of MOG and Dato’ Henry Ng, Executive Director of MOG
“Through this programme, I want to enable at least 10,000 medical front-liners to own the ZEISS AntiVirus lenses so that they can enhance their personal protection.
“The lenses come with a protective layer that deactivates 99.9% of viruses and bacteria.” Ng said.
Ng added that the ZEISS AntiVirus lenses were chosen for this programme largely because eye surface exposure to harmful viral droplets is greatly underappreciated as a probable route of transmission of many viruses and poses undeniable harm.
For spectacles wearers, he emphasised that microbes surviving on lenses can easily contaminate our eyes through direct or indirect hand-eye contact and enter our body through nasolacrimal system.”
On ZEISS AntiVirus Lenses technology, Executive Director, Dato’ Henry Ng commented “these unique lenses are coated with antimicrobial silver ions that are tested on ISO 21702:2019(E) standards to have the ability to deactivate 99.9% of bacteria and viruses on plastic and non-porous surfaces.”
On top of the financial subsidy, MOG also seeks to help frontliners overcome the biggest issue for spectacle-wearers when wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) -- inconvenience and discomfort as the glasses fog up due to condensation.
“Those who wear glasses would know how easily glasses fog up when you put on a mask. Just imagine the discomfort of our medical front-liners who have to wear their PPE all day long and remain alert at all times,” Ng said, adding that MOG also included complimentary ZEISS anti-fog kits in the iCare4U special package for the medical front-liners.
In relation to their core vision of Helping the World See Better, MOG’s CEO, Datin Bernice Low added that “although the past 15 months have been particularly challenging for many, including us not spared, we would like to remain steadfast to our guiding principle of delivering exemplary eye care experience through continuous innovation in both products and services. We greatly appreciate this opportunity to be able to introduce a breakthrough technology in the form of AntiVirus Lenses by our long time business partner, ZEISS while giving back to those in need amid the COVID-19 crisis.
“As such, we hope that every medical front-liner who walks into our store today can also enjoy a comprehensive eye-test by our fellow optometrists. This time, let us do our part and protect you in return. We would like to help you go to battle with better peace of mind and enhanced protection”, Ng concluded.
