Mca Questions Agc S Delay In Deciding On Penang Undersea Tunnel Scandal

(The Star) – MCA has questioned the Attorney General’s Chambers’ (AGC) delay over the Penang undersea tunnel case, despite the first investigation paper on the scandal being opened in 2017.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong questioned why there was no decision yet whether to file any charges or close the case, despite investigations that have been going on for more than a year.
“According to a statement by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on March 4, 2019, the first investigation paper on the Penang tunnel scandal was opened on July 2017, while five more investigation papers were opened on January 2018.
“As many as five investigation papers have been completed and referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP),” said Dr Wee in a statement on Thursday (March 7).
“The question that needs to be answered is why any decision to either charge or close the case has not been made, although investigations started more than a year ago?
“What is the factor behind the AGC’s delay in making a decision?” he questioned.
Dr Wee also asked why the MACC or the police have refused to verify whether the leaked documents on political blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin’s website were authentic or otherwise.
Raja Petra, in a series of articles posted on his blog over the past week, made an exposé based on the leaked documents.
The blogger alleged that several Penang state exco members were implicated in the MACC’s probe into the project.
The 7.2km undersea tunnel is part of a RM6.3bil project, which includes three paired roads.
