Malaysian Cops Now Willing To Act On Fam Jpn Fraud Allegations After Fifa Upheld All Sanctions

PERHAPS Malaysian sports enthusiasts who strongly felt betrayed or possess evidence of alleged forgery in the naturalisation process of the seven Harimau Malaya ‘heritage’ players can now lodge police reports to speed up the process of hauling the culprits to justice.
This came about after United Rights of Malaysian Party (Urimai) secretary Satees Muniandy was contacted yesterday (Nov 18) by an officer from the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters (HQ) for his statement to be recorded and to obtain several documents in his possession related to the case.
He had on Oct 10 filed a police report at the Dang Wangi district police HQ but his report was closed without even having his statement recorded on grounds of no criminal elements.
On that day, Malaysiakini reported that an emergency motion mooted by backbencher Chong Zhemin (DAP-Kampar) to debate the International Federation of Association Football’s (FIFA) sanctions against the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and seven “heritage” players was rejected by Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul
This is given that the issue had already been addressed by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail the day before during the Minister Question Time.
“Now, after FIFA’s latest embarrassing exposé which confirmed the existence of fraud, only does PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) want to open an investigation. Nevertheless, I will give my full cooperation,” penned the former DAP state assemblyman for Bagan Dalam on his Facebook page.
“This is no longer an allegation. This is an official finding by the world football governing body.
“More seriously, FIFA has urged all football bodies involved to file criminal actions regarding the forgery of birth documents in their respective countries, including Malaysia. FIFA also warned that failure to act could result in heavier sanctions against the national FA (football association).
Global embarrassment
The FIFA appeal committee had on yesterday (Nov 18) upheld all sanctions issued against FAM and seven players involved in the use of falsified documents for national-team eligibility by calling the offences a fundamental threat to the integrity of international football.
In its motivated decision, the committee said attempts to forge documents to deceive governing bodies “strike at the very foundation of football’s integrity” and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.

Delving further, Satees said the chain of events only reveals how damaged and dysfunctional the Malaysian policing system is.
“This raises major questions. Why did PDRM not take these steps earlier? Why was my report closed without any genuine investigation? Who was involved in this document forgery at the level of FAM and at the National Registration Department (JPN) level?” asked the political activist.
At the same time, Brazil’s Justice Ministry is expected to update me on the progress of my report to the country before Nov 28.
Malaysia is now being watched by the world. The question is simple. Will PDRM act with integrity or will it only move when an international body like FIFA exposes a crime happening within our borders?
National sovereignty and the integrity of citizenship documents are not minor issues. They are matters of national security.
PDRM must explain why action is only taken upon international pressure. Malaysians deserve answers, especially the children of this soil who are still waiting for their citizenship after years of being left in limbo.
