Malacca Move Split Emerges Over Attempt To Seek Audience With Agong

In an interesting turn of events, Malacca Pakatan Harapan has refuted that it will participate in an attempt to seek an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong over the dissolution of the state legislative assembly.
However, others disgruntled at former chief minister Sulaiman Md Ali may proceed with their plans to travel to Istana Negara.
In a statement this morning, Malacca Harapan chief Adly Zahari refuted former Pengkalan Batu assemblyperson Norhizam Hassan Baktee’s claim about the plan.
He did not refer directly to Norhizam in his statement.
“As of now, Malacca Harapan has no plans to seek an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“Our focus now is to bring the dissolution of the legislative assembly to court to challenge the dissolution process and facts, including (whether it) was in accordance with Article 19(2) of the state constitution,” Adly said.

DAP’s Low Chee Leong similarly denied the existence of such plans and chastised Norhizam for causing confusion.

“I want to stress that Norhizam should stop tarnishing Harapan’s good name because not all (former) Harapan assemblypersons will accept him back into Harapan.
“Do not even dream that DAP will accept him (Norhizam) as an ally,” the former Kota Laksamana assemblyperson remarked on Facebook.
In GE14, Norhizam had won his seat as a Harapan-DAP candidate.
He defected in March 2020 to become a pro-Perikatan Nasional independent following the Sheraton Move federal government coup.
Norhizam defected again earlier this week to voice his opposition against Sulaiman.
This time, he and three other defectors joined forces with 11 opposition Harapan assemblypersons to announce that Sulaiman had lost his majority in the 28-seat state assembly.
This alliance now appears split after Sulaiman sought dissolution of the assembly.
Istana trip to go ahead?
Meanwhile, Norhizam’s aide indicated to Malaysiakini that he will depart for Istana Negara at 4pm today.
It is unsure who else is joining him.
Malaysiakini has contacted the palace to confirm whether the YDPA is in the country.
Idris Haron, the former Sungai Udang assemblyperson who led the coup against Sulaiman, also indicated that the plan may go ahead.
“We are still trying,” he told Malaysiakini when asked if he had been granted an audience with His Majesty.
Idris has been sacked by his party Umno for his part in the coup. - Mkini
