Parkcity Medical Centre And Partners Go The Extra Mile With Mobile Clinic For Underprivileged Children

Children from lower-income families who were lacking in regular health check-ups due to the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic were provided with a free health check-up by ParkCity Medical Centre (PMC) which recently introduced its ‘Go the Extra Mile’ i-Kiddo Kids Mobile Clinic as a corporate social responsibility initiative. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with Village Grocer, operated by The Food Purveyor and Masjid Al-Iman Al Ghazali in Bandar Manjalara

Reaching out to vulnerable communities in the Kepong area, the PMC mobile clinic with its team of pediatricians, pediatric ophthalmologist, nurses, and staff volunteers from both PMC and Masjid Al-Imam Al Ghazali tended to children between the ages of 4 to 12 years on September 26 and 3 October 2021, from 8.30am – 12.00pm noon at the mosque

Among the free health services provided were vision test for children and health screening. Families also received goodies containing dairy products and other essentials thanks to the generous contributions from The Food Purveyor under its CSR initiative called Smiles Programme that aims to support underserved and vulnerable communities in Malaysia

Chief Executive Officer of PMC, Ch’ng Lin Ling, said, “The pandemic has elevated the importance of helping each other, and especially the harder-hit communities, through these challenging times. With the support of our CSR partners and an altruistic team of healthcare professionals, we can do our part for the well-being of children in need, while contributing towards building a healthier nation.”
Chairman of Masjid Al Imam Al Ghazali, Encik Rumaizi Sanusi, said “As an institution, it is important for Masjid Al-Imam Al-Ghazali to rally behind initiatives that will ease and lessen the burden of those impacted by the pandemic. We hope that this will be the first step towards many more collaborations in the future, in support of communities around us.”

Hence, we are proud to be supporting PMC in sponsoring 200 bags containing fresh and healthy foods such as bananas, milk, and wholemeal crackers. Paediatricians Dr Salehuddin Samsudin and Dr Michelle Ling together with paediatric ophthalmologist Dr Norazah Abdul Rahman led the PMC team. The hospital ensured that public safety was a priority during the initiative, with strict respiratory etiquette maintained and full compliance to current standard operating procedures including physical distancing, use of face masks and sanitization

In addition, and as part of PMC’s overall efforts to build a healthier nation, the hospital has launched its Say No to Plastics initiative in line with Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care’s sustainability programme, RSD Cares. The initiative is seeing the hospital replace plastic bags currently used at the pharmacy and customer care counters with complimentary handy woven bags. To encourage more people to protect the environment, visitors can also contribute RM1 for one woven bag, with all proceeds going towards its Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3R) programme
