Macc Records Statements From 13 Individuals Over Sale Of Airport Land

Perak MACC director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad said to date, 13 individuals have been summoned to the MACC headquarters here to have their statements taken.IPOH: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has recorded statements from 10 other witnesses over the sale of land meant for the development of an international airport in Seri Iskandar.
Perak MACC director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad said to date, 13 individuals have been summoned to the MACC headquarters here to have their statements taken.
Mohd Fauzi added that no arrests have been made so far and the case is still being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 (abuse of power for personal gratification).
"A total of 10 witnesses including Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) officers, the state government official, former state executive councilor, and state Land and Mines Office officer have been called up so far.
"An ALP witness (Member of the Board of Directors) of PKNP who is also a former State Legal Adviser had his statement recorded too.
"We will record (the statement) of another PKNP's ALP who also attended the PKNP ALP meeting related to the discussion of the sale of PKNP land today," he said when contacted today.
Mohd Fauzi added that another important witness would have his statement recorded shortly before the investigation file could be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for study and decision.
Last Wednesday, MACC recorded statements from three witnesses and they were PKNP officers and a state government official.
On March 29 during the state assembly sitting, Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming claimed that the land was sold by an irresponsible party without state permission.
On March 31, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad confirmed that a plot of land, previously identified as the location for a new international airport in Seri Iskandar, had been sold to a private company.
The Kota Tampan assemblyman said the sale of the land was conducted during the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration. - NST
