Macc Arrests Three Of Its Officers Over Alleged Misuse Of Power
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed that it had arrested three of its officers as part of an investigation related to the misuse of power and misconduct in a case involving a “former department head”.
“The MACC would like to stress that this commission will not compromise or protect any of its officers involved in any criminal activities and will take appropriate actions if these acts were found to have truly occurred.
“All three officers have been brought to Putrajaya Magistrate Court and remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Proceeding Code for six days beginning Sep 14 to 19, 2021, ” it said in a statement this morning.
MACC reiterated it is investigating the case and called on the public to refrain from making any speculations regarding the case as it will jeopardise the investigation.
The statement came just hours after the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) denied receiving any police report regarding three MACC officers.
The police’s statement this morning followed a recent viral post concerning former Malaysia External Intelligence Organisation (MEIO) chief Hasanah Abdul Hamid who was charged in 2018 in a criminal breach of trust (CBT) case involving RM50.4 million belonging to the government.
MACC seized cash and other belongings from Hasanah in relation to the investigation, but in April, she was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal during her trial.
The post claimed that when Hasanah went to retrieve her money, she found only a portion of the cash was left, and the rest had been replaced with fake notes. - Mkini
