Let Hajiji S Govt Function As Usual Says Sabah Pkr
Razeef Rakimin of Sabah PKR says the state government led by Hajiji Noor should carry on its projects for the benefit of the people.
PETALING JAYA: Sabah PKR has come out in support of chief minister Hajiji Noor amid an alleged mining scandal implicating several government assemblymen.
Sabah PKR information chief Razeef Rakimin said Hajiji’s government should be allowed to function as usual while the allegations are investigated.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has said it has begun an investigation, and expressed confidence that the federal government would not protect anyone purportedly involved.
Razeef said today: “If anyone is guilty of any wrongdoing, they must be brought to justice. But let the state government function as usual so that it can smoothly implement its plans, projects and activities to look after the welfare of the people.”
He said political stability was critical in Sabah “to establish an ecosystem that would promote economic growth and attract investors”.
He called for Sabah government leaders to be chosen democratically by voters at the next state elections.
Razeef’s statement follows calls from Sabah Umno for Hajiji to resign as chief minister over the alleged mining scandal.
Umno Youth treasurer Naim Kurniawan Moktar, who is the son of Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin, had also suggested that deputy chief minister Jeffrey Kitingan take over from Hajiji as chief minister in the interim.
Kitingan is president of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), a member of the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition. STAR and Kitingan have both ridiculed the Umno calls and stated their backing for Hajiji.
Hajiji has accused Sabah Umno of trying to create confusion, division and speculation in the GRS alliance which also consists of Sabah DAP and Sabah PKR. - FMT
