PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh today said she is unaware of Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz purportedly joining the party.
Speaking to Malaysiakini, she said PKR has not received any membership application from Zafrul, who is a member of the Umno supreme council and the chief of its Kota Raja division in Klang.
According to Fuziah (above), the PKR central leadership committee will discuss new membership applications in their monthly meeting and a big name like Zafrul wouldn’t go unnoticed.
“We will approve (membership applications) during every central leadership meeting. As of the last meeting on Nov 30, there was none (from Zafrul).
“The next batch of applications will be discussed in our next meeting,” she said during an interview at PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya earlier today.
Fuziah was responding to a question about rumours that Zafrul is planning to abandon Umno for PKR.

According to the domestic trade and costs of living deputy minister, Zafrul also never contacted her to discuss or indicate interest in joining the party.
However, she stressed that anyone who wants to join PKR is welcome to fill out its membership form through the party’s online system.

“I never received anything personally from him.
“If he wants to (join PKR), perhaps he has filled out the form online. If that’s the case, I don’t know, because (his form) would be in the online system.
“We only extract data from the system before we hold the (central leadership) meetings,” she said.
Earlier today, Free Malaysia Today quoted sources claiming that negotiations were ongoing for Zafrul to join PKR.
It was claimed that Zafrul has been earmarked to play a role in the Selangor administration, which is under PKR leadership. - Mkini
