Kudos Bukit Aman
THE arrest of two DAP state assemblymen today over their alleged link to terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is commendable and that the police force is doing the right thing to clear the country of any subversive activities.Melaka state executive councillor G Saminathan (Gadek, Melaka assemblyman) and P Gunasekaren (Seremban Jaya assemblyman) also marks the end of wild accusations that PDRM has all this while been dictated by Putrajaya. I personally would like to salute them.LTTE-related activities were reportedly have taken place in some places involving most Indian leaders. Before the two were nabbed, various accusations were hurled at DAP leaders who openly attended parties or celebrations for the LTTE, including Penang Deputy Chief Minister P Ramasamy, who might be next on the list of arrest. And of course, there were some statement of dispute made by DAP leaders, notably Klang MP Charles Santiago who questioned the arrests of the two DAP state lawmakers. He said that the LTTE as an organisation is defunct and inactive as all the leaders were killed during the civil war in Sri Lanka many years ago.“I am actually quite baffled with their arrest, because the LTTE has been defunct for quite a number of years. As far as I remember, there is no attempt to revive it at an international level, so I am not sure what is the motivation behind their arrest. It definitely raises a lot of questions because even in Sri Lanka, the network does not exist."Charles, who is also the chairman of Asean Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR), said it is unfair to consider LTTE as a terrorist movement as it was fighting for rights to their land, comparing them to the Palestinian freedom movement which is supported in Malaysia. He maybe is too naive to equate LTTE and the Palestinians who are fighting Tel Aviv atrocity on their homeland. The LTTE, meanwhile launched a war against the central government in Colombo, asking for an autonomy in a country which there are the minority.I wanna ask Charles, what did he do when the government nabbed those suspects of terrorism linked to Al-Qaeda and other groups? As the chairman of APHR, did he protect them or issuing any such statements? We cannot label him as racist although his main concern is about the arrest of the two assemblymen and LTTE. As the minority, are the Indians planning similar war against Putrajaya?Ramasamy could be next. He believes the arrests are related to the trio’s presence at a “Heroes Day” gathering last year, but could not confirm it. What? Is LTTE terrorists considered as heroes? Why not the Palestinians?Since 2009, Ramasamy has been linked with the LTTE, some see it as terrorist while some call it the freedom fighter.Generally, the arrest is a move highly commendable. As to whether the two are guilty or not, it is up to the 'Rule of Law' subscribed by Pakatan Harapan. No reason for Charles to worry at all.Let the police make more arrests and investigate them. But if they are found guilty, the government deserves every rights to strip them of their citizenship and expel them elsewhere.I just hope they are innocent!
