Kelantan Pas Denies Forcing Voters To Take Oath For Cash Aid

Screenshots from the video that went viral, in which a man had allegedly asked some youths to swear in the name of Allah that they voted for PAS before handing them some cash.PETALING JAYA: Kelantan PAS has denied allegations that people returning to vote in Kelantan in the general election (GE15) had to take an oath stating they voted for the party before being given cash to cover their travel expenses.
This comes as a video went viral on social media showing a man in a room with some youths. He was heard calling them out by name individually and allegedly asking them to swear in the name of Allah that they voted for PAS before handing them the money.
Speaking to FMT, Kelantan PAS secretary Wan Roslan Wan Hamat said the party was only helping voters from out of state return to vote in Kelantan.
“This is aimed at easing the burden of those who have to bear high travel costs, especially those who are less able (to afford the fare),” he said.

Wan Roslan added that the return fare is given to all those who are eligible for it, regardless of which party they voted for.
“PAS never instructed them to swear in the name of Allah. PAS only helped voters who returned from (out of state) to fulfill their voting responsibilities,” he said.
“We never even asked them which party they voted for.”
Meanwhile, Pertubuhan Pertahan Kelantan president Nazman Che Ibrahim said it was not part of PAS’ culture to ask people to take oaths stating they voted for PAS.
“This is slander created by (our) opponents to discredit the party,” he said. - FMT
