Jasin Dap Urges Madani Coalition To Drop Extremists Akmal Fires Back
A new round of friendly fire has erupted within the ruling Madani coalition, again involving DAP and Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh.
This came after 15 DAP branches in the Jasin district of Malacca approved a motion urging the Madani coalition not to field “extremist politicians” in Jasin in the next state election.
The Jasin parliamentary constituency comprises five state seats: Bemban, Rim, Serkam, Sungai Rambai, and Merlimau, the latter being Akmal’s seat.
Bersatu won Bemban in the 2021 state election, while BN-Umno took the remaining four.
‘No extremist, racial, or religious politics’
In a joint statement today, the 15 DAP branches said that the motion is on supporting candidates from the Madani government in the next state election, on the condition that those nominated must reject “politicians who practise extremist politics that could divide national unity”.
“The motion expresses full support for ensuring the victory of unity government candidates in parliamentary and state seats within the Jasin district.
“At the same time, all 15 DAP branches declared a firm stance in rejecting any politician or party that engages in extremist, racial, or religious politics that threaten national unity,” the statement added.
They stressed that Malaysia’s future depends on political stability, racial harmony, and progressive leadership.
“Jasin DAP is committed to being part of the effort to build a more united, just, and prosperous nation. We will not compromise with any party that promotes the politics of hatred and division,” the statement said.

The 15 DAP branches involved are Kelubi, Air Barok, Taman Maju, Jasin Lalang, Parit Keliling, Pondok Batang, Asahan, Kong Sai, Air Panas, Serkam Pulai, Simpang Kerayong, Jalan Rim, Bukit Katong, Kemendor, and Ladang Asahan.
‘Sure, but let’s add more conditions’
ADSAkmal and DAP have long been at odds and have repeatedly clashed over various issues.
While the statement did not name anyone, Akmal was quick to respond.
He suggested that Jasin DAP should add several more conditions - that candidates must truly understand Malaysian history and the Federal Constitution, and be able to speak fluent Malay.
“Is Jasin DAP planning to contest in Merlimau or any other state seat in Jasin, as proposed by the Malacca DAP Youth chief?
“Go ahead, we’ll be waiting - let’s fight it out to the very end, shall we?” Akmal wrote on Facebook this afternoon. - Mkini
