Ismail Sabri keeps mum after meeting with several Umno leaders
Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob met with several Umno leaders tonight.
However, the new-appointed prime minister, who will be sworn in tomorrow, declined to speak to members of the media upon leaving the hotel where it took place.
“Any statement will be issued tomorrow,” he told reporters.
Ismail Sabri had arrived at the hotel about 8.30pm. Among the Umno leaders spotted at the hotel were Rembau member of parliament Khairy Jamaluddin, Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and Kuala Krau MP Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Mohamed Said.
Earlier today, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had consented to appoint Ismail Sabri to the country’s top office.
In a statement, Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin had said the King determined that Ismail Sabri had garnered 114 nominations from MPs, thus giving him sufficient majority to form a government.
Fadil had also stated that the swearing-in ceremony would be held at 2.30pm tomorrow at Istana Negara. Nst
