Igp Denies Claims Of Rushed Prosecution In Muhyiddin S Sedition Charge

There is no rush in the prosecution of Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was charged today at Gua Musang Sessions Court for seditious remarks, says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
(NST) – He said that the investigation into Muhyiddin’s case followed standard procedures, similar to other 3R (race, religion, and royalty) cases.
“There is no rush in prosecuting him as some have claimed.
“Our policy is to complete each investigation within seven days. In some instances, investigations have been wrapped up in as few as four days,” he said after launching the police force’s “Kampung Angkat Madani” in Kampung Jenal here today.
Razarudin said that once the investigation is complete, the papers would be forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action.
“If we were rushing, we would have charged him last week.
“The timing of the prosecution is determined by the A-G based on when the investigation is completed,” he said.
Razarudin was commenting on the remarks raised by Bersatu’s deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who argued that there was no basis for the sedition charges against Muhyiddin, asserting that his speech was factual and not intended to provoke.
Muhyiddin, the former prime minister, pleaded not guilty to the sedition charges related to remarks made at Felda Perasu on Aug 14 when the charges were read before Judge Nik Mohd Tarmizie Nik Mohd Shukri.
