Bersatu Youth Hits Back Muhyiddin Video Edited To Mislead Police Report Lodged
Bersatu Youth has filed a police report against an online news portal affiliated with a component party of the unity government, accusing the portal of editing and misrepresenting a speech by Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin from the Nenggiri by-election ceramah.
(NST) – Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal claimed that the video was misleadingly edited, causing public unrest and defaming the former prime minister.
“The edited content, shared on social media, was manipulated to create conflict between PN leaders and the Malay royal institution.
“This is a cowardly act, taking snippets out of context to incite tension,” he said after filing the report at the Dang Wangi police station.
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said that PN and Bersatu were committed to defending religion, race, and the country, and questioned how they could be accused of undermining the royal institution when they actively defended Malay and Islamic rights.
He described the video as a political ploy and character assassination aimed at stirring public anger against his party president.
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal hopes the police report will help clear Muhyiddin’s name.
The speech in question, which went viral, allegedly touched on the sovereignty of Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, during his time as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Muhyiddin claimed he had the support of 115 members of parliament after the 2022 general election and suggested the King should have appointed him as the 10th Prime Minister.
Yesterday, Tengku Mahkota Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, criticised Muhyiddin’s remarks as demeaning to his father and called for police action.
In response, Muhyiddin defended his statements as factual and not intended to insult the monarchy or contain seditious elements.
He said that he was willing to cooperate with the police to clarify his remarks.
