Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz denied rumours that he retracted his complaint against the collection of statutory declarations (SDs) by certain party leaders, allegedly to force president Muhyiddin Yassin to quit.
Tun Faisal stressed that he will stand by his complaint and leave the decision to the party’s disciplinary committee.
“As of now, I have not retracted it. The disciplinary committee is independent.
“It has the power to call for a proceeding, investigate, and evaluate evidence and statements from witnesses and the accused,” he told Malaysiakini today.
ADSOn Sept 25, Bersatu supreme council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan confirmed there was a move to collect SDs from Bersatu division chiefs, which purportedly sought a leadership change ahead of Bersatu’s annual general meeting on Sept 9.
However, Wan Saiful claimed that some people twisted the narrative on what it was for.

“Let me meet the party’s disciplinary board and explain to them first before commenting further,” the Tasek Gelugor MP added.

Meeting postponed
However, the disciplinary committee postponed its meeting on Thursday (Sept 25) due to a member’s absence and the lack of a quorum.
Earlier this month, before Bersatu’s annual general meeting (AGM), reports surfaced about a poison pen letter accusing Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin of plotting to topple Muhyiddin.
On Sept 6, Muhyiddin directly mentioned the SD move during his speech at the AGM and urged members to respect the party’s constitution, triggering a commotion on the floor.
Two days later, it was confirmed that around 120 Bersatu division chiefs signed the SDs. However, the documents have yet to be delivered to Muhyiddin. - Mkini
