Muhyiddin Capable Of Making Major Decisions Peja Says Amid Bersatu Turmoil

With Bersatu seemingly embroiled in a power struggle, its vice-president Ahmad Faizal Azumu cryptically said that party president Muhyiddin Yassin is not averse to making “major decisions.”
Extolling Muhyiddin’s vast experience, he also said that despite being a young party, Bersatu would prevail amid the challenges faced.
“Just because we’re a young party, it doesn’t mean Bersatu cannot make major decisions under the stewardship of the vastly experienced Muhyiddin.
“We will rise again from whatever problems and will continue to fight for the people and Allah.
“With the support of hard work and prayers from party leaders across all levels, Bersatu will achieve greater success and lead the country again… making people’s lives better along the way,” Faizal (above) said in a statement today.
Poison pen letter
On Sept 3, a poison pen letter surfaced days before Bersatu held its annual general meeting (AGM), accusing party deputy president Hamzah Zainudin of planning to oust Muhyiddin.
During the AGM, Muhyiddin addressed the alleged plot and urged party members to respect the party’s constitution, leading to a commotion among attendees.
Later, several Bersatu leaders called for action to be taken against party supreme council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan for allegedly spearheading a move to collect statutory declarations (SDs) from division chiefs to get Muhyiddin removed from his post.
While Wan Saiful confirmed the SD move, he claimed some people twisted the narrative on what it was for.
The Tasek Gelugor MP was summoned to explain himself to the party disciplinary committee on Sept 25, but the meeting got postponed with alternative dates yet to be announced.
On Sept 29, Wan Saiful mounted criticisms against party secretary-general Azmin Ali and information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, alleging the duo was indulging in physical threats and cyber warfare.
He also highlighted an intimate video scandal in 2019 implicating Azmin, prompting the former minister to accuse his detractors of wallowing in slander by resurrecting the matter. - Mkini
