Grs Government Failed To Address Basic Needs Bung Moktar Says

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has accused the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government of failing to resolve issues such as water shortages, power outages, and poor road conditions.
He said that while Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has defended the administration as successful, the reality on the ground tells a different story.
“If the GRS government is as effective as it claims, why are so many Sabahans still struggling to access clean water?.
“Even during the holy month of Ramadan, many areas are still facing water disruptions. This is not an empty allegation, it is the daily reality for the people,” he stressed in a statement on Saturday (March 16).
Bung Moktar also highlighted the frequent power outages in Sabah, saying blackouts have become the norm.
“Going a day without a power cut is now considered unusual. How much longer must the people endure this?” he asked.
He further criticised the poor condition of Sabah’s roads, which he said are riddled with potholes from village roads to main highways.
“These roads damage vehicles and cause accidents. How can the government claim good governance when even these basic issues remain unresolved?”
Bung Moktar also pointed to economic difficulties and the lack of quality job opportunities in Sabah, forcing many to migrate to the Peninsula or abroad.
“The cost of living continues to rise, yet the state government has no concrete plan to ease the burden on the people,” he said.
He stressed that Sabahans were not blind to these issues and urged the government to stop boasting about success without delivering real improvements.
“If the GRS government were truly effective, the people would feel the progress, not just hear about numbers and reports on paper,” he added.
Bung Moktar said it was ultimately up to the people to decide in the next election whether they wanted to continue supporting the current administration or vote for change. - FMT
