Grandmothers From Hell Netizens Share Their Story
WITH reunion dinner around the corner, our thoughts are undoubtedly gravitating towards the many awkward moments of interacting with our relatives.
Interestingly, the people who are closest to us are also the ones capable of causing us the most heartbreak.
In a viral post on X, a netizen pointed out some of the grannies from hell who practised favoritism, resulting in their grandchildren or close relations being hurt.
The topic which struck a chord among netizens, drew a sizable following with many sharing their own experience.
Netizen epsilon lambda stereotypically claimed that this is always shown by the grandmother on the father’s side while resitYGterbuang added that the best revenge was to become rich.
Another netizen shared that she and her sister were both adopted, and their grandfather would pinch her sister for no reason when she was playing with her cousins.
“Grandpa would then whisper in the ears of her other cousins, telling them not to befriend her. She was just a four years old kid,” she said.
Notak added that the grandmother usually will love the grand children if she also likes the in-law.
“My family is not her favourite. Among our many brothers and sisters, she likes only one. She chooses,” said Notak.
It appears the image of kindly grandmothers being harmless isn’t always true. One netizen said that his grandmother would hide the cooking utensils knowing that his mother was a capable cook.
Then there was yes? who said that grandmothers usually have their favourite grandchildren. But when she gets sick, the favourite rarely comes to visit her, probably just once a month.
Perhaps the best revenge is to do nothing at all, but to watch as the favourite child she invested in not giving much concern about her welfare.
“Reading this makes me feel grateful as both of my grandparents were the best,” said queen_maznah.
On our take, all that hate and favoritism pales in comparison when it comes to the squabbles among relatives where inheritance is considered. The phrase,”money is the root of all evil,” has chilling merits.
With new year eve around the corner, this story could not come at a more terrible time as we will soon need to brace ourselves for the “tough questions” that are bound to surface at the reunion table. And not to forget, Happy Chinese New Year. — Focus Malaysia
