(Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: A leader of Malay right-wing group Gagasan 3, who failed to turn up to give his statement to the police today, said he would meet them tomorrow over speeches threatening a May 13-style riot against DAP supporters
“I will be present at Ampang Jaya district police station on Monday evening,” he said in a statement today
Amran also defended his statement against his former party, DAP, where he urged the public to “destroy” the party
“I will defend what I have said previously (on DAP) even if there are one million police reports against me,” he said
He was sacked by DAP after he criticised the party before the May 9 general election
Amran also urged his supporters to gather outside the Ampang Jaya police station in solidarity
Meanwhile, police recorded statements from Gagasan 3’s adviser Azwanddin Hamzah and Raggie Jessy Rithaudeen this morning
They left Ampang Jaya police station at 1pm
Ampang Jaya police chief Hamzah Alias said Azwanddin and Raggie were called in for questioning over the alleged May 13 threats after a police report was lodged against the group
He said there were other reports against Gagasan 3 in other police districts
Gagasan 3 was formed on Nov 21. The coalition said it wanted to unite Malay Muslims, and blamed DAP leaders for what they said was an erosion of Malay rights under the Pakatan Harapan administration
This followed a raging debate on the government’s initial plan to ratify the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD)
Amid intense opposition from Malay groups as well as Umno and PAS, Putrajaya announced that it would not ratify the ICERD despite earlier statements in support of the global anti-discrimination treaty
Police said it would act upon the hundreds of police reports made in recent days linked to the controversy over ICERD. It is understood that they were also linked to viral video clips in which Azwanddin said he did not mind a repeat of the bloody racial riots of 1969 to teach DAP a lesson
“I longed for May 13. If we have to sharpen the parang (machete), we have to do it. If we have to sharpen the keris, we have to do it,” Azwanddin had said in a speech to announce the formation of Gagasan 3
“If you record this, show it to DAP. If you are insolent, we Malays can be more insolent,” he said. -FMT
