The 14-second video was uploaded by a user at around 11.50pm yesterday, with a Mandarin caption that translates: "fighting while scrambling to get on the bus."
The video showed a crowd gathered around the scene as a man and a woman pushed each other near the fenced entrance leading to the buses.
The incident is believed to have occurred at night at the busy entry-exit point between Malaysia and Singapore.
The situation sparked various reactions from social media users who urged authorities and transport operators to improve passenger control systems to prevent similar incidents, especially during peak hours.
Johor Baru South district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, said no police reports have been lodged regarding the incident so far.
He said police received the viral footage at around 5.30pm yesterday through a link uploaded on Facebook.
"The police are identifying the individuals involved, witnesses of the incident and the actual cause of the altercation.
"The public is advised not to further spread the video to avoid misunderstandings or speculation that could affect public harmony," he said in a statement today.
