Johor Amanah Again Touts Readiness To Face Bn In State Polls

A Johor Amanah delegate at the party’s annual convention in Shah Alam today once again touted the state chapter’s readiness to face off against government ally BN in the next Johor election due next year.
In debating party president Mohamad Sabu’s policy speech, Fadhli Umar Aminolhuda claimed Johor Amanah has rallied the full force of its machinery to contest “in all state seats”.
“Here, the Johor state election is approaching soon.
“And we want to say this: If BN continues to act arrogantly and refuses to work together with us, Johor has already begun preparing its machinery to contest all state seats,” said Fadhli, who is the son of Sri Gading MP Aminolhuda Hassan.
ADS“Johor (Amanah) hopes that all of Malaysia will come down to help secure victory for Amanah and Pakatan Harapan in the state!” he said.
Johor Amanah had, on multiple occasions since the last state election in 2022, staked claims or declared readiness to contest in the 40 seats currently held by BN. The assembly has 56 seats.
Amanah convention in Shah Alam todayAmanah, through the party’s former deputy president, the late Salahuddin Ayub, contributed one seat to Harapan’s total of 12 - the remaining 10 were won by DAP and one by PKR.
The party later retained Salahuddin’s Simpang Jeram seat in a by-election.
Last month, Johor Umno accused Amanah of being more interested in chasing seats than serving voters, following remarks by the party’s state deputy chairperson, Dzulkefly Ahmad, in rejecting negotiations with BN.
Johor Umno information chief Israk Abdullah at the time said nothing was stopping Dzulkefly or Johor Amanah from contesting in any seat they wished - even against BN - if they were confident of their strength in the state.
On Oct 15, Dzulkefly said Johor Amanah believes negotiations on seat allocations between Harapan and BN in Johor are irrelevant, as the federal-level “unity” government does not exist at the state level. - Mkini
