Faith In Pmx S Resolution To Rid Graft At All Cost Thinning Trust In Graft Buster Macc Vanishing

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) head honcho Tan Sri Azam Baki has apparently been given the ultimatum by Mahajoth Singh, the lawyer of Datuk Albert Tei Jiann Cheing, “to either ‘resign, recuse himself or take immediate garden leave’ pending a probe into the fiasco of the Prime Minister’s ex-aide”.
This came about as a second damning clip has emerged linking Azam to the RM629,000 in bribery of sorts involving Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, the former senior political secretary of PMX Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as per exposed by the businessman at the centre of the high-profile Sabah mining license corruption case.

“So long as Azam Baki remains in office, MACC cannot lawfully or credibly investigate these allegations,” reasoned Mahajoth as cited by opposition-slant news portal MalaysiaNow.
“Any such investigation would be structurally tainted, legally questionable and fundamentally contrary to the interests of justice and public confidence.”
The call follows a Nov 25 video featuring a woman identified as Sofia Rini Buyong who allegedly acting as Shamsul’s proxy having claimed that the latter had met Azam to request that Tei’s case be “handed leniently” and resolved amicably “without dragging on”.
Editor’s Note: Sofia has since denied being Shamsul’s proxy, describing the allegations as “false and malicious”.
Regardless, a MACC officer has lodged a police report over the video clip which implicated its chief commissioner in the alleged Sabah mining scandal.
Additionally, the woman had had her statement recorded after having arrived at the MACC headquarters (HQ) in Putrajaya yesterday (Nov 27) at 2.30pm accompanied by her lawyer Shugan Raman, reported Bernama.
The MACC had further confirmed it has contacted Shamsul who is currently in Sabah and will give a statement this afternoon (Nov 28) while its earlier statement mentioned that it had summoned Tei and Sofia to its Putrajaya HQ on Dec 1 to assist in an investigation involving Shamsul.
While Madani backers are out in full force to defend Azam’s innocence by downplaying the chain of events as a dirty political ploy, PAS information chief Fadhli Shaari has boldly called on PMX to step down following the abrupt resignation of his senior political secretary.
“According to (former economy minister Datuk Seri) Rafizi Ramli’s account on his podcast, he had reminded PMX several times with PMX himself admitted the matter concerning his political secretary yet still no action was taken,” lambasted the Pasir Mas MP.
“It’s not enough for the political secretary to resign, PMX himself must step down. Oh, when giving speeches shouting ‘sakau..sakau!’ And now this is what unfolds.”

That Shamsul’s alleged misdeeds happened right under PMX’s nose further prompted the PAS lawmaker to wonder “if PMX himself has a share in the large sum of money allegedly received by Shamsul”. – Focus Malaysia
