Ex Sabah Cm Borneo Bloc For Rakyat S Welfare Not To Be Kingmaker

Amid talk of strengthening the ‘Borneo bloc’ to ensure political stability at the federal level, former Sabah chief minister Salleh Said Keruak said the primary concern of the state is the well-being of its people and economic development.
“Recently, the term ‘Borneo bloc’ - a political alliance between Sabah and Sarawak - was being floated by some political observers.
“This kind of talk seems as though it is simply intended to increase political power, not people’s well-being.
“The economic well-being of the people of Sabah is of primary concern, which includes welfare for all, an increase in income, an improvement in the quality of life for people living in rural areas, the creation of job opportunities, new economic activities, advancements in health and social welfare, and the development of electric power, among other things,” he said.
On Facebook last night, Salleh (above) said with the well-being of the people and economic development being the main focus, the ‘Borneo bloc’ will not be misled into thinking about becoming ‘kingmakers’ at any point in time.
“Dedicate our resources and efforts to the wellbeing of the people, not to political blocs,” he said.
Recent reports have seen political analysts talking about the role of the ‘Borneo bloc’ at the federal level.
This comes amid speculation that seven BN MPs are vacating their seats – a rumour that BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied.
Zahid said the coalition’s MPs are tied down after signing a cooperation pact.
Gabungan Parti Sarawak secretary-general Alexander Nanta Linggi has also been reported saying strengthening the ‘Borneo bloc’ is to ensure political stability at the federal level. - Mkini
