Doctored Video Of Woman Accusing Pm Not Evidence Lip Eng
DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng has dismissed a video in which a woman claims Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was aware of businessperson Albert Tei’s plan to record Sabah politicians linked to the mining scandal.
“An edited video featuring a woman with an obscured face and an unidentified male voice is circulating online, making vague allegations about a supposed plot involving the prime minister.
“Let us be absolutely clear: such a video is not evidence of anything,” he said in a statement today.
The Kepong MP was responding to a six-minute clip said to depict a conversation between Tei and an alleged proxy of Anwar’s former senior political aide, Shamsul Iskandar Akin.
Lim (above) said it is irresponsible and dishonest for anyone to use a “doctored clip” to attack the prime minister.
“If the accusers truly have facts, they should present real proof and stand by their claims openly. Hiding behind distortion and anonymity says everything about their credibility.
“The public should not be misled by cheap political gimmicks. The prime minister will not be judged by shadows and rumours created for viral drama.
“He should be judged only by verifiable facts, not by a video that wouldn’t meet even the lowest standard of evidence anywhere. Malaysia deserves better than baseless allegations disguised as ‘exposés’,” he added.

The video, uploaded on the “Pejuang Tun Mahathir” Facebook page yesterday, prompted PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari to demand clarification on the allegations.
Mining scandal ‘evidence’
On Monday, Tei had also met with former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad to reveal “evidence” related to the mining scandal.
The video’s release followed a Malaysiakini report in which Tei claimed he had spent more than RM600,000 on Shamsul after being assured the aide would help him recover funds given to Sabah politicians.
According to Tei, he has compiled a dossier of over 300 pages, including WhatsApp screenshots and receipts, to substantiate his allegations against Shamsul.
Among the claims, Tei said he paid for renovations, appliances, and furnishings for two properties - one in Bangsar and another official residence in Putrajaya.
He also produced WhatsApp screenshots from December 2023 in which Shamsul allegedly requested money while travelling abroad.

PM’s ex-aide Shamsul Iskandar Akin (left) and businessperson Albert TeiTei said he was introduced to Shamsul by a woman believed to be the same individual in the video. Their first meeting took place on Nov 8, 2023, at around 10pm at the Jesselton Cigaro cigar lounge in Kota Kinabalu.
He added that he has evidence showing the woman acted on Shamsul’s behalf.
Shamsul tendered his resignation as Anwar’s aide yesterday and vowed to defend himself against the allegations, which he did not specify.
Tei has been on a warpath to take down politicians he gave money to for mineral exploration licences, which he did not end up getting.
Since last November, Tei has released multiple videos, documents, and WhatsApp screenshots implicating over a dozen Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) politicians in accepting bribes in exchange for the licences. Tei and two assemblypersons were subsequently charged.
GRS chairperson and Sabah caretaker chief minister Hajiji Noor has accused Tei of being part of a cartel aiming to monopolise mining in the state. - Mkini
