They claimed that the the gaps became particularly apparent last year.
Muhammad Azfiq Azrai Mohd Salim, 28, said the flat's committee had lodged reports to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) on the matter, but the issue still persisted.
"This issue began last year. But this year, it looks worse," he told the 'New Straits Times'.
He speculated that the gaps were a result of poor maintenance work by the city hall's contractors two years ago as the material used to fill in the gaps could be pulled out by children.
The maintenance worker said the gaps were more prominent in the upper floors.
Azfiq, along with residents Shahin Ali Nafiah, 41, expressed concern over the state of their residence as the issue had dragged on for months.
"When there's a problem with the lift, they'll come immediately. But this... I hope that they'll take action immediately," Shahin lamented.
The residents and the chairman of the Gombak Setia Residents Association Khair Nasaruddin Mohd Khair agreed that the building still felt stable, with no reports of shaking.
However, Khair clarified that the issue was not a crack but a structural matter involving the building, and gave assurance that DBKL was addressing it.
PKR Wangsa Maju vice-youth chief Muhammad Ammar Othman has also raised the matter with DBKL through the Wangsa Maju parliamentary office yesterday.
The NST has also reached out to the City Hall for comments. - NST
