Datuk Botak Farhash Behind Pn Reps Backing Pm Wan Fayhsal
Two individuals are responsible for attracting the support of opposition MPs to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, claimed Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
He alleged that the individuals involved were “Datuk Botak” and Anwar’s former political secretary Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak.
“It is clear that there is a planned move by the prime minister and the leadership of the government to bribe and offer incentives through promises of financial assistance to Bersatu MPs. Both for their constituencies and for them personally.
“There is also a video showing the identity of a ‘Datuk Botak’... who played a role in bribing and threatening opposition MPs to support the prime minister,” Wan Fayhsal told a press conference in Parliament today.
Malaysiakini has not revealed Datuk Botak's identity for now, pending his response.
However, Farhash has responded with a statement in which he vehemently denounced and denied what he called "baseless slanderous accusations" levelled against him.
He said that he had stepped aside from politics to focus on business and would lodge a police report against Wan Fayshal over the matter.
Videos posted on social media
Wan Fayhsal claimed that videos related to efforts to attract the support of opposition representatives can be seen through social media such as Facebook and TikTok.
“The video explains the role of the prime minister’s former political secretary Farhash in this matter.
“This video has also gone viral on Facebook and TikTok, and the MACC should be aware and take action because it is clear that the four Bersatu MPs have been pressured and threatened with action by the MACC if they refuse to give their support.
“This is clearly a misuse of power by the prime minister and a form of corruption and this act also insults the provisions of the Federal Constitution regarding the law of party jumping and contradicts democratic practices,” the Machang MP said.
Earlier, Wan Fayhsal announced that a police report had been made regarding allegations of bribery, baiting, or threats following the actions of some Perikatan Nasional MPs who declared their support for the prime minister.
Wan Fayhsal said the report was made by Bersatu Youth while a report to the MACC will follow soon.
“A police report has already been made by Bersatu Youth at midnight last night. Some say this (alleged receiving threats) is empty talk and slander.
“No, we have facts and a case. An MACC follow-up report will be made and a press conference will be held to explain the police report,” he added.
‘Work until midnight’
Earlier, Wan Fayhsal during the Minister’s Question Time session in the Dewan Rakyat criticised Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail for stating that no complaints had been received by the authorities.
Saifuddin previously sarcastically congratulated Bersatu Youth who “worked until midnight” to make a police report.
“The fact that the police received a complaint shows that the police are professional. No problem, no difference. I reiterate the readiness of the MACC and the police (to investigate).
“Threats involve police jurisdiction. Offers and bribes are included in MACC’s territory (jurisdiction).
“This morning, I asked the two agencies to give me a response and, until now, not a single report has been made,” he said.
Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution IsmailHowever, Saifuddin assured that the police will immediately investigate if there are individual reports or allegations, while it will be considered slander against the government if there is no such element found.
“Agency and enforcement agencies in the government are ready to act professionally to deal with any possibility,” he stressed.
The four Bersatu MPs who pledged support for Anwar are Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), and Zahari Kechik (Jeli).
All four said they made the decision for the interest and welfare of the voters in their respective constituencies.
