Covid 19 New Clusters Detected In Sabah Perak And Terengganu
PETALING JAYA: Three new clusters have been detected in Sabah, Perak and Terengganu, says the Health Ministry.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Atap cluster in Sabah was detected in Kota Kinabalu from an index case who went through a Covid-19 screening on Oct 4.
Dr Noor Hisham said the index case has been admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah, adding that close contact screenings have identified three more Covid-19 positive cases.
"As of Oct 9, a total of 49 individuals have been screened in which four have tested positive with 36 negative, and nine still waiting for their results," he said on Friday (Oct 9).
Dr Noor Hisham added that the Bah Lada cluster in Perak was detected at the Perak Tengah and Perak Hilir districts.
The index cases of this cluster was detected from a high-risk area (Sabah) Covid-19 screening on Oct 3 and Oct 6.
"They were admitted to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Perak. Close contact screenings have also identified two more Covid-19 positive cases," he said.
Under the Bah Lada cluster, Dr Noor Hisham said 41 individuals have been screened, where four tested positive, 31 tested negative and six still waiting for their results.
In the Bah Sahabat cluster in Terengganu, Dr Noor Hisham said the new cluster was detected from the Marang district in Kuala Terengganu and from Kuala Terus, Terengganu.
"The index cases in this cluster was found as a result of a Covid-19 screening from high-risk areas (Sabah) on Sept 25 and they have been admitted to the Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Berang Hospital.
"Close contact screenings have detected eight more Covid-19 positive cases," he said, adding that a total of 88 individuals have been screened.
Of the 88 cases, 10 are positive, 34 negative, and 44 still waiting for their results.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said Kedah only recorded 10 new cases today following the ministry's success in controlling the Tembok cluster.
In Kedah, the Tembok cluster recorded seven cases, while the Bah Sintok cluster recorded three cases. - Star
