Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau posted pictures of them on top of the tower.PETALING JAYA: Police are waiting for information on the couple who climbed to the top of Merdeka 118, the world’s second tallest building.
The information was sought from Moscow’s National Central Bureau (NCB) and International Police (Interpol) earlier this month, said Dang Wangi police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya.
“At this stage, we’re still waiting and believe the couple has left the country.
“To date, 13 people have had their statements recorded, including staff from the building and safety personnel,” he told reporters at the Dang Wangi police headquarters earlier today.
Commenting on several other videos on social media that have targeted Merdeka 118 as a location for extreme activities, Noor Dellhan said discussions would be held with the building’s owner to tighten security.
“Police will discuss and assess what action can be taken next. This is not just for Merdeka 118 but also for the managements of other skyscrapers,” he said.
Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau are known for their daredevil stunts, having climbed several skyscrapers all over the world.
On Dec 27, photos of Beerkus and Nikolau on top of the iconic building were posted on SkyscraperCity.com.
They are believed to have accessed the tower’s stairs and climbed to the top before taking pictures using a drone.
On Jan 5, Nikolau reportedly revealed that she had worn a hijab (headscarf) and posed as a construction worker to gain access to the building. - FMT
